Alec Baldwin (Knots Landing, Married To The Mob), Geena Davis (The Fly, The Accidental Tourist) and more join Keaton in a cast that puts the super in this supernatural spoof. Starring, too, is the movie's look. Burton and his crew create a fantastically inventive, screwloose view of this world - and the next. You'll see monsters stalk, corpses wither, tentacles snatch and an afterlife Waiting Room crammed with a goofy, ghoulish assortment of the recently deceased. Exorcise you right to fun. Say the "B" word three times and "get that Beetlejuice person" for yourself. You'll have a wonderful Day-O!

The Spy Who Loved Me

Hear My Song

It's funny how far people will go to win love. In the case of concert promoter Micky O'Neill, it's winningly, warmly, downright hilarious. Newcomer Adrian Dunbar plays Micky and Ned Beatty is Josef Locke, the reclusive superstar tenor Micky seeks to lure out of retirement in Hear My Song, a joyful comedy about life's possibilities...and the triumph over love's apparent impossibilities. Micky's sure that reeling in Locke will help him win back the affections of the woman he's loved and lost. But Locke, a fugitive from the tax collector for 25 years, is as stubborn as he is talented - a situation which makes Hear My Song as comical as it is charming. "No movie around will leave you with a wider smile" (David Ansen, Newsweek).

Split Decisions

The mob says take a fall. The Fighting McGuinns say take a hike! They don't call 'em the Fighting McGuinns for nothing. Dan , Gramps and college-aged Eddie know what it's like to take a punch and hammer out a half-dozen in return. Put their brains in a rock and it would come out swinging. Naturally, with these generations of ring battlers living under one roof, familial sparks are bound to fly. But put Eddie in the ring and the senior McGuinns in his corner and you don't just have Rocky revisited; you've got boxing's own version of the Allied troops on D-Day. Movie veteran Gene Hackman stars in Split Decisions as Dan, a father who puts aside family squabbles to train son Eddie for a ring vendetta against the mob. It's a rich and resonant role for the actor in a year full of treasurable Hackman performances: Bat-21, Full Moon in Blue Water and especially his Oscar-nominated work in the explosive Mississippi Burning. Craig Sheffer (Some Kind of Wonderful), Jennifer Beals (Flashdance) and Jeff Fahey (Psycho III) add more sizzle to the movie's portrait of life on the front burner of New York's Hell's Kitchen. And the boxing sequences are ballets of brute force, staged by old pro Paul Stader (who trained Robert Ryan for 1949's fight classic The Set-Up and Carl Weathers for 1976's Rocky) and stunningly filmed by director David Drury (Defense of the Realm), who was once one of England's top amateur boxers. With top stars, real-life grit and real-ring thrills, Split Decisions is an uncontested winner.
