Love Story

Everyone loves Love Story! One of the most romantic movies ever made also remains one of the most enduringly popular. Deal of the Century

A deal like this can blow up in your face! Fast-talking Eddie Muntz is a super salesman. Unfortunately, he works in a business where you can really make a killing. Eddie sells weapons - little ones to kick off a riot and big ones that can trigger a world war. But don't worry; he won't sell to just anybody. Only to folks with a suitcase full to the brim with money. Chevy Chase stars in William Friedkin's devilish satire of the international arms trade, Deal of the Century. It's a side-splitting look at an industry selling big bangs for big bucks - and shouldering a big responsibility for the current sorry state of global relations. Sigourney Weaver (Aliens) co-stars as the ambitious widow who turns Muntz on to a multi-million dollar deal involving robot warplanes and dummy dictators. Gregory Hines (Running Scared) is their partner, an ex-pilot whose high-flying conscience leads him into a double-cross dogfight that nearly wipes everybody out. The climax at a major weapons show, "Arms for Peace '84," one of the most bizarre bizaars in film history. But according to Academy Award winner Friedkin (The French Connection, The Exorcist, To Live and Die in L.A.) and screenwriter Paul Brickman (Risky Business), the reality that makes headlines is even stranger. "Sworn enemies shop for weapons side by side," Friedkin says,"...like little kids playing with toys. The only thing is these toys can destroy the world." Deal of the Century is a very funny movie about a very serious subject. And if your laughter is a little nervous, you're beginning to get the point.

Yes, Sobel is a family psychiatrist. But surely this isn't the kind of family he had in mind.
